Chapter 5 Summary

Chapter 5 was about the effectiveness of information design.  The chapter showed how different companies like Morgan Stanley, Time and simplehuman changed there brand with the help of design firms through good information design.  Some of the main points were:

  • Good design and typography are functions of information
  • Using a grid system helps define information
  • The goal of any collaboration between designer and client is the development of a relationship and trust.

The article also mentioned how closely the design company would work with there clients, most of them actually moved into the clients office and worked closely with the employees.
