Creative Brief
Company Name: The Black Box Cheesecakes
Goals:
The main goal for the site for Black Box Cheesecakes is to create awareness for the company. It is a new business and they want to let everyone know that there is a location in the Valley where you can buy gourmet cheesecakes and can call to place an order. The site will display photos and the menu to give an idea of what you can get from the store.

• Be able to browse the menu before placing an order

• Avoid unnecessary phone calls
• Let the customers know more about the company
Audience: The audience for Black Box Cheesecakes are mostly women but include some men. They all work in an office environment full and part time. They love to entertain at home and food is an important part of there lives. They are coming to the site to get the address, phone number, or to look at the menu before they go in the store. Tone: The site needs to be perceived as tantalizing and surprising. The audience should feel like they have reached a place that is quaint and comfortable. The look of the site will be modern, simplistic, and create movement. The content will include the Cheesecake collections, address, telephone number, email, company information, and photos. When viewers look at the site they will be able to view the menu, and then want to call to place an order.
Maintenance: The site will be maintained by me.

Chapter 7 was about information architecture and web design. It went over how important it is to organize your content. If you create good content and nobody knows about it or can’t find it, then it is not successful. The easier it is to find information quickly the more successfuly you have organized your information. It also explained that usability testing doesn’t work good if you don’t do it correctly. You have to test it in a way that reflects the types of users that will be using you web site.
Chapter 4: Design Toolkit went over color, type styling, weight and scale, structure, grouping, graphic elements, imagery, and sound and motion.It spoke about the important of each of these when designing and gave good examples of how each can make impact. Each of these tools can help you differentiate information in an eye catching way. It also went over the importance of grid systems, something that has been talked about alot in all my classes the quarter. The chapter was basically about how design can help you direct and attract the readers eye, convey meaning, and help navigate through information

Chapter 5 was about the effectiveness of information design. The chapter showed how different companies like Morgan Stanley, Time and simplehuman changed there brand with the help of design firms through good information design. Some of the main points were:

This is an information graphic created for the readers of the Architectural Digest. It will show what type of home you can buy (square footage) for around $500,000 in different cities in America. (around 15-20 cities).
The purpose of this information graphic is to show readers what type of house they could buy in different cities and what you get for your money.
The target audience for the Architectural Digest is about half women and half men, with a few more women readers. Their average age is 49. They have an average household median income of $165,000 and live in houses priced around $520,000.
